So... Why Sharks?

Sharky’s Treasure is the creation of Blaze, who has always had a passion for wildlife and everything queer and has now found a way to combine the two!

I am a disabled, nerdy artist and youth worker for an LGBTQ+ youth group in Wales and has worked with the young people for almost 4 years. It is through this work, that I noticed a lack of support for the queer and trans youth within clothing brands. While we all have rainbow t shirts with PRIDE, there aren’t many conveying the important messages. Plus, who wouldn’t want an Opossum mum and her trans babies on a t shirt? Or maybe you’re the parent bear, with a supportive paw around their cub?!

I have a history of working with a variety of animals, specialising in aquatic life and birds of prey. I've always had a love for sharks, which has progressed into an unhealthy collection of all things shark over the years, and have dedicated my time to promoting sharks, and planning to use Sharky's Treasure as a platform to also improve the public image, while removing misinformation. Due to being animal obsessed, I have a huge catalogue of projects and photography, from local wildlife, falconry shoots to safari photography, taken in Kruger National Park, South Africa. I use these images to not only create gorgeous prints, but also edit them to create more inspired imagery, such as watercolour wildlife.

Sharky’s Treasure was created as a way for me to not only showcase my art while creating an epic clothing brand, but also as a way to promote and champion other LGBTQ+ artists, so make sure to watch this space, as we will be having some really talented and creative individuals.
